Tucked in the heart of Honolulu’s historic Chinatown, Nextdoor isn’t just a venue
—it’s a movement. For two decades, we’ve been Hawaii’s underground sanctuary for music lovers, creatives, and night owls looking for something real. With deep roots in the arts scene and an unshakable pulse on what’s next, Nextdoor has hosted legends, birthed local talent, and given the city a soundtrack of its own.

Known for our massive 40-foot theater screen, we’ve brought everything from gritty short film competitions like Showdown in Chinatown to avant-garde music video premieres, immersive concert experiences, and late-night movie screenings that keep the energy alive 'til morning.

Our space is raw, versatile, and wired with Twilight Audio’s elite sound system—a system so dialed in, it doesn’t just play music, it moves you. Whether it’s hip hop, house, reggae, techno, punk, or something experimental, we don’t do boundaries. We do vibes.

As we gear up for our 20th anniversary, we’re throwing it back to the artists, DJs, and creatives who helped build this legacy. From April to June, we’re inviting past performers to take the stage again
—culminating in a blowout celebration this June 20th. If you’ve ever performed here, this is your moment to return home.
Because Nextdoor isn’t just a place.
It’s where culture collides, and history is still being written.

Nextdoor began in 2004, inside a worn-down building on Hotel Street in the heart of Chinatown. Back then, it was nothing but exposed beams, cracked walls, and big dreams. We rolled up our sleeves, brought in friends, and turned a forgotten space into a home for Honolulu’s underground creative scene.

It became a launching pad. From gritty film nights like Showdown in Chinatown to unforgettable sets by future legends, this is where local talent found a voice and community found a rhythm.
Two decades later, the neighborhood’s changed—but our soul hasn’t. Nextdoor is still raw, still real, and still where culture begins.
WHAT WE BUILT WAS
- MORE THAN A VENUE
